Westport Broadway

Founded by eight Swedish immigrants in the late 1800s, the historic Swedish Baptist Church is one of Kansas City’s most treasured landmarks. For nearly a century, its congregation flourished with more than 1,000 members — but in recent years, only a handful remained, faithfully gathering each Sunday in a building that had grown difficult to maintain.

When Narthex acquired the property in 2017, just 17 devoted members continued to worship there. After thoughtful restoration — including modern upgrades, fresh paint, and new carpet — Swedish Baptist has been beautifully renewed. Today, it once again hums with life as the home of a thriving new startup church.
